Very is one of the most overused words in the Eng­lish lan­guage — an inten­si­fi­er that is gen­er­al­ly not need­ed, and adds lit­tle to the infor­ma­tion in your sen­tence. It makes your writ­ing sound less pre­cise, even when you think it is strength­en­ing your point.
